Chilli "Peppa Twin" Surfboard Review Ep 145
In this episode, Noel Salas and Asa Cascavilla put the Chilli "Peppa Twin" through the paces while James Cheal from Chilli Surfboards breaks down the board attributes. Having the same high-performance DNA as other Chilli surfboards, the "Peppa Twin" has a wide tail with pulled back fin box placement, is relatively flat with a nice V and simple exit rocker as well as a pretty flat deck and pulled in rails. James executes a high performance feel on this twin fin without eliminating paddle power.
Noel likes the HP Twins on the 5'4 Twin Tech but switched to the Pivot Twin + Trailer in Carbon on the 5'6. It made the 5'6 feel much looser due to the fin boxes being placed further back on this twin. Noel goes into further detail and explanation about fin boxes and all the set ups to make the "Peppa Twin" surf best.
The Twin Tech at 5'4 worked awesome in the pool at Waco Surf as opposed to the 5'5 XTR10 Parallel Carbon. XTR10 Carbon Lite is Noel's favorite on this board. Asa liked the carbon layup on the XTR10 if his footing was correct but agreed with Noel's opinion in regards to the Twin Tech. Overall, you can ride this board in 2-to-4-foot surf, and can be considered a daily driver for Intermediate all the way to Pro-Level surfers if you want a performance feel and speed. Check out the full video for all the details. Enjoy!

Current quiver is 5’8 RNF96 as a twinny for small days, and a 6’2 custom round tail PU shortboard for good days. I’m 6’2 and surf my local beach break mostly. I’m looking for great pocket performance - tight turning, fast and vertical. Considering I72, Twin turbo, Xero gravity, Holy hypto, and maybe the lost ripper but there’s the HE, HK2 and many others! I like so many boards you are considering. The bottom line is choosing the right board with the right rocker for your waves. If your home break waves are fast and hollow when they are overhead then you might want a board with a little more rocker CI Pro 2. If your home breaks have flatter faced waves with some push then I recommend the Happy Everyday or I72. Both of these boards draw high performance lines and easy to shred compared to a typical HPSB.

      Just had someone offer me a 5'6" 31 liter pod mod for a great price. Now I'm waffling between that board, a rusty miso, and the RNF. Any advice you can give is much appreciated.

    Nice review. Can anyone who has recently owned a CI epoxy Spinetek board comment on its durability? I’ve heard CI poly boards have notoriously poor glassing and pressure dent very easily. That said I just snapped my stringerless DHD epoxy on a 6’ SoCal wave. I honestly don’t understand why board makers don’t make stock stringered epoxies. They simply don’t exist off the shelf. All my custom boards with that construction surf the best and are the most durable, but I just hate waiting months for them to get made.

      Had mine for 18 months. Really good durability. Handles chop better than other epoxies I've surfed.

    Hi Noel! Im thinking of getting this as my first short board, ive been riding a 6'8 (41lrts) midlenght as a twin for 3 years now. The only misc i can find in stock is a 6'0 (37,44 ltrs) i am 6'0 165 lbs. Is it a good size for a fisrt shortboard? Or too big and chunky??! Please help!

      Dropping to that short of a board can be difficult… a 6’ board will feel twitchy. The volume is fine… but the board length will challenge you. I say try a 6’2” Hypto Krypto. It’s more stable

    How did it feel in comparison to the “sampler”?

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777 14 днів тому

      The Sampler is fast down the line and better in Shoulder High surf and smaller. The H E has a better wave range in 4-6’ surf. The H E feels a bit more like a HPSB in the pocket compared to the Sampler

    Love the review Noel. How do you think the HE would go as a round tail? And any chance of reviewing the JS Xero Gravity or Fusion in the near future? Cheers

      The H Eday will go good as a round tail. I think it will add more drive and hold. It will also give the board a better range in overhead surf.

      I have both! The HE will be better between 3-4 and once the waves are more powerful or bigger the JS will work better. Except from me riding them both, you can actually see it by the outline the happy every day is wider and has a wider tale block and wider nose compared to the JS

    Great review Noel, thank you ! I hope the hip is feeling better now. How would you compare the happy everyday to the pyzel gremlin or the lost RNF96 ?

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777 14 днів тому

      The hip is good thank you! The Gremlin and 96 are hard to compare to the H Eday. The Gremlin and 96 have low overall rocker with a hybrid outline. (Wide nose) the Gremlin and 96 cannot draw the sharp lines a small performance board draws because of the bulky wider nose. The Gremlin is a legitimate Groveler… better compared to the Bobby Quad or Pod Mod.

    It is definitely a magic board! Ive had 3 in my life. 2 were OG flyers, and now the Happy Everyday. OG flyers were magic for me 15-20 years ago and 20lbs lighter. At 44 and 190 this board is as high performance as I can handle. Had some of the best turns I’ve ever done on it as well!
